Welcome to the website of The Bettie R. May Foundation for Small Cell Lung Cancer!

More than 40 years after President Nixon declared war on cancer, lung cancer remains the number one cancer killer. This year an estimated 213, 380 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed and 47% of new lung cancer cases will be women. Many non-smokers are being diagnosed with lung cancer at an alarming rate. Over three million women have died from lung cancer over the last 30 years. Yet, little has changed. At this rate, it will take centuries, if ever, to discover a cure. In the meantime, many people will lose their lives because most people with lung cancer die. The five-year survival rate is a dismal 15%, an increase of only 3% over the last 30 years. Nothing will change if we don't make it change. Without adequate research funding things will remain the same or only get worse. I need your help to fight this war and win. Your decision will make the difference in the lives of others both today and in the future. I am calling upon you to join me in this crusade that I am calling the "Magnificent 100"...100+ friends united against lung cancer. You can start helping by donating your time or talent to the Bettie R. May Foundation for Small Cell Lung Cancer! Please contact us at 248.496.9145 (voice) or info@brmay.org (email).

We need your help! The Bettie R. May Foundation is a member of the Lung Bunch, a nationwide coalition of lung cancer advocacy non-profit organizations. The Clinical Trials Committee of the Lung Bunch is trying to find out more information about the perception and issues surrounding clinical trials. There are 3 types of surveys each geared toward a specific audience. One survey is geared towards health care professionals, the second is geared toward cancer patients and the third is toward the general public.

The Bettie R. May Foundation is asking our supporters to please participate in the clinical trials by completing at least 1 or more of the surveys (just click one of the survey links above to open the survey in a new window). Each survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
